Self Attached Reference File

Question: Is there was a way to attach a reference file to itself such that if the file were renamed IE for a revision, the attachment would automatically continue to refererence the active file.

Answer: Yes attach as a reference file using the name "." (with or without the quotes). The file that will be attached is the active file and it will always display the active file regardless of how the file's name is changed or where it is moved. But don't try to change the name of an existing self-attachment to just ".", it will revert to the actual file name.

NOTE:   You must use a keyin for this to work (IE rf=.) and you must NOT save full path.

You can edit the logical name and the description after attachment without causing the attachment to take the actual name of the active file. If you want more than one attachment of this nature in the same file, you will have to go through the attachment process for each attachment. If you try to use the Copy Attachment command to do this, each copy will take the name of the active design file instead of remaining just "dgn".
