Sending drawings via Internet or Email – SVF Format

In this day and age of internet technology, web sites and email has become one of the most frequently used forms of communication. So why not send your MicroStation drawings this way? Well, probably because it requires the receiver to have a copy of MicroStation. There is also the possibility of non authorised use of your drawing. Not a problem if you use the SVF file format. Anyone who has a PC with Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer web browser, and the SVF plug-in, can view an SVF file. Each SVF file opens up with its own set of view controls, zoom in, zoom out, pan, fit view. An SVF file can also printed from your web browser.

Creating an SVF file is as simple as printing a drawing, using the plotter driver’s svfhires.plt for high resolution images, or svflores.plt for low resolution images.

Note: If you don’t already have the SVF plug-in with your browser, an evaluation copy is available from www.softsource.com/plugins
