Ever get frustrated when you update a view containing lots of graphics and you have to
wait for what seems like an eternity for the display to update? And of course you are
updating the view because you deleted a line and it makes portions of the elements under
it look incomplete.
Rather than use update use the incremental update command iupdate. This command will
update only those elements that need to be updated and will not update the rest of the
view. The command works similar to update. Enter the command and then identify the view
with a data point. The iupdate command has many forms including iupdate all, iupdate 1
through iupdate 8, and others. Use the Key-in Browser located under the MicroStation Help
pull down menu for additional commands related to iupdate.
Many users have update commands under function keys, like F9 if you change these to
iupdate then the speed of view updates will increase dramatically.
