The Clipboard can be used to copy/edit text and to copy elements within the same file and amongst several files.
If all or a portion of a note needs to be copied and inserted into another note, select the desired text in the text editor window and type Control-C to copy the text to the Clipboard. Now select the second note for editing and paste the Clipboard's text in the desired location by typing Control-V.
If elements need to be copied into another file, just select them with Element Selection or PowerSelector and click the Copy icon in the Primary Tools ToolBox. Open the other file and click the Paste icon in the Primary Tools ToolBox to place the elements.
NOTE: The elements' attributes including database links will be preserved. The active scale and active angle will be applied to the elements during the paste, so set AA=0 and AS=1. If a tentative point is active when the element is cut or copied to the clipboard, the point is used as the paste origin.
This saves having to reference files just to copy a few items.
Occasionally after editing some text or modifying an element you realize that you wished you edited/modified a copy instead of the original or you only wish to keep some of the changes. Just clicking Undo would eliminate your recent efforts, which is not desired. Instead, first select the newly changed items that you wish to keep and click the Copy icon in the Primary Tools ToolBox. This places them in the Clipboard. Now click Undo to step back to the point before the changing occurred. After verifying AA=0 and AS=1, click the Paste icon in the Primary Tools ToolBox to place the modified version of the elements. Now the original and modified versions are in the file.
