Whilst teaching the Productive, Accudraw and 3D MicroStation courses to existing users, it has become apparent that many users are unaware of some of the short-cuts that are available. One such shortcut, that many seem to be unaware of, is the setting of default snap modes. Once upon a time, the only way to set your default snap mode was to go to settings>locks>full and set it using the locks dialog box, or to double click on the snaps button bar. Most users know that snaps can also be accessed from the status bar, but few seem to know that selecting a snap mode from the status bar, whilst holding down the shift key, will set that mode to the default snap. Knowing this, we can now do away with the button bar and free up some more of that much craved for screen space.
