What is the Key-in for placing a series of numbers in an array in a set direction,
ie 1 2 3 4 or
1
2
3
4?

This would be best achieved by:

  1. Place your first number manually. (i.e. 1)
  2. Start the "Copy and Increment Text" tool.
  3. Select your text.
  4. Set the "Tag Increment" to your interval value (ie1).
  5. Keyin dx=(+/- offset value)|number. (i.e. dx=100,0|3)

Details:

dx=(+/- offset value) dx=x,y | repeat datapoint.

The dx=100,0|3 means delta in the x direction 100 uors and 0 in the y

The | means repeat 3 data points.

You can use + or - in the x and y direction.

To place the numbers down the page you would use dx=0.-100|3

NOTE: The pipe (| this is the key above the \ on your keyboard) is also handy for any operation that requires a series of data points, like copy parallel or create complex string with method set to Automatic.
