Running Macro’s As A Design Application

A useful tool, which was included in MicroStation J, from version 7.01 onward, is the RUNMACRO mdl. This clever mdl allows you to automatically run a macro, or a list of macro’s, every time you open a design file. This tool is available from DeveloperWare.

1. In MicroStation go to Workspace -> Configuration -> Design Applications: Add the mdl "runmacro" to the list of applications to load.

2.

Make sure that the macro that you wish to run resides in one of the directories listed in the MS_MACRO config variable. (Find it easily by going to Workspace -> configuration -> Primary Search Paths -> Macros).

3.

Add a new config variable MS_DGNMACROS (if it does not already exist) and enter the name of your macro file as the value. You can specify more than one macro run as a design application by just adding their names to the list in MS_DGNMACROS

4.

Save your user configuration and restart MicroStation for the changes to take effect.
