Drag & Drop in MicroStation J Additional Ideas

You may drop multiple files on the reference dialog at once and have them all attach as reference files.

If you drag and drop an image ie a tiff image to the Reference Files dialog box you can attach a raster reference file. If you drop the image onto a view then you will display the image file allowing you to do a save as and convert it to another format.

If you drag and drop a cell library, then it will attach that cell library.

If the file that you drag and drop is a basic macro (.ba or .bas) or an mdl application (.ma) then the macro or mdl application will run.

You may add custom associations via File>Associate.

If you set (type in the extension) the File extension to txt, set the file type to custom and set the Key_in field to include. Then when you drag and drop a text file (*.txt) the contents of the text file will hang on your cursor waiting for you to place it in the design file.

If you use Enforcer then by setting the file extension to ctl, file type to custom and the Key_in to mdl l enforcer;enforcer load control. Then when you drag and drop a control file *.ctl into MicroStation this will load Enforcer and load the control file, if Enforcer is already loaded then Enforcer will load this control file.
