Dynamic Panning

In addition to the Shift + Data dynamic panning functionality in MicroStation/J, here are a few more panning methods you can use.

  1. When you click the Pan View tool in the view window's viewing tools and enable the Dynamic Display setting (on by default), MicroStation uses an accelerated vector method and pans quickly.
  2. In a 2D file, start with two or more views open. Have one large view zoomed in on a specific area of the design and one small view zoomed out to see all the data - fit view style. Click the Pan View tool icon in the large view (don't place any data points yet). Go in the small view and then place a data point in that view. Then move or drag the cursor around in the small view. As you move around in the small view, the large view should be dynamically updated with a small area that surrounds the cursor in the small view.
  3. You can also use this view-association capability with QuickVisionGL in a 3D file. Open an Isometric and then a Top view. Accelerate the Iso view with QuickVisionGL using Smooth or Hidden Line and click something like the Rotate View tool in that view. Click a data point in the Iso view and then go to the Top view, moving the cursor in a big circle. The Iso view should spin completely around.
